Our People
SJI is currently headed by Principal, Mr Justin Arul Pierre. Taking care of the learning needs of more than 2,000 students in SJI are 175 teaching staff comprising Heads of Department, Heads of Level and teachers and allied educators. The students and teachers are assisted by 41 administrative and support staff.
Our teachers are, in true Lasallian tradition, big brothers and sisters to the boys under their charge. The strong pastoral care in SJI is manifested in our teachers who strongly believe in and live out the spiritual culture of the school. 26 of the academic staff are SJI alumni who have returned to teach at their alma mater, working in association with other teachers to preserve and pass on SJI traditions and culture.
La Salle Brother Paul Ho, FSC is Brother-President at SJI, who ensures the Lasallian identity and ethos of the school are preserved. Our lay chaplaincy team takes care of the Catholic needs of the school community.

Applicants should be university graduates with at least an honours degree in the relevant subject area and possess teacher training qualifications. Those intending to teach in the Junior College Section should preferably have experience in the IB Diploma Programme or have experience teaching at the Junior College level. For those applying for the JC section vacancies, willingness to teach in the Secondary Section and teach Theory of Knowledge (TOK) will be an advantage.
For some candidates, there may also be opportunities for professional growth by teaching Theory of Knowledge.
Applicants to the Art & Innovation position must be willing to learn and experiment with innovative ideas and practices, be able to use Google Suite, be able to support the running of the Design & Innovation club (CCA) and be comfortable teaching any one or two of the following skills:

1) Laboratory Technician
We invite applications for the position of School Laboratory Technician to assist our teaching staff in science laboratory activities, in particular for International Baccalaureate (IB) Chemistry, and to manage and maintain the science laboratories in good order. We require the successful candidate to:

have some years of relevant experience
possess at least a Diploma in science-related (preferably Chemistry) courses and is expected to perform the following duties:

General duties e.g. maintain a safe and tidy laboratory environment and ensure chemicals are labelled properly in accordance to the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).

Routine duties e.g. maintain laboratory equipment, apparatus, PPE, materials and specimens in good working condition, set up relevant apparatus for students’ experiments and clean apparatus and bench tops in the laboratories.

Specialised duties e.g. contribute to the design, development and maintenance of specialist resources and extended essays, support teachers in ensuring the availability of suitable materials and equipment, helping to compile orders and liaising or negotiating with suppliers.

Duties during school holidays:

Inspect gas and water taps.

Treat bench tops such as painting of fittings and equipment.

Check the contents of cupboards and lockers.

Inspect and overhaul apparatus.

Overhaul chemical and biological stocks.

Prepare an inventory of stocks annually and submit to Head of Department/Subject Head for checking by the end of every semester.

2) Manager, Facilities
Job Description
About the role:
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the facility operations and management functions of the school.
The officer will oversee all aspects of facility management from day-to-day facility operations to minor or major infrastructural improvements of the school. He/She is expected to show strong technical knowhow and competencies in project and facility management while taking guidance from the Ministry of Education (MOE) prevailing facility management advisories for school operations.
i. Responsibilities
Facility Management
-
Lead the Facilities team in the day-to-day running of the School, such as building and electrical maintenance, overall security management, cleaning, landscape, and pest control operations. This is to ensure the school remain a safe, conducive, and welcoming environment.
-
Plan, monitor, and conduct regular daily/weekly/monthly/annual facility maintenance schedules in building, electrical, sanitary, safety, cleaning, pest control services etc.
-
Supervise the services provided by the contracted facility vendors/contractors (security, cleaning, landscape, pest control) and ensure that services performed are as per contract requirements.
-
Oversee the minor and major infrastructural improvements and maintenance works of the school, including procurement, design, construction/renovations and overall project management with relevant stakeholders and contractors until the project is tested, commissioned and handed over to the school.
-
Lead the Facilities team in providing timely and prompt facility and logistics support for school activities and events, such as set-up and tear-down, security access, carpark management, and cleaning.
-
Conduct and regularly review the facility maintenance and refurbishment roadmap (with a focus on preventive maintenance) for the school. This also includes ideas generation, technological or design innovations in facility management.
-
Monitor and comply with statutory licence guidelines and government requirements, including but not limited to safety requirements of SJI’s buildings, electrical and gas systems, fire safety compliance, periodic structural inspections, environmental and safe work procedures.
-
Oversee the license certification or renewal processes and keep the school’s required facility-related certifications and licenses current and up-to-date.
-
Support the school in the collation and submission of facility-related data to relevant government bodies or public agencies.
-
Oversee the bookings and applications for rental of school’s premises by external parties.
-
Custodian (include providing updates) of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Facility department, warranties, technical drawings, building plans, specifications, documentation, and layout plans etc of the school.
Finance & Procurement
-
Drive procurement efforts in the procuring of estate/facility-related products and services, including monitoring replacement of equipment and supplies due to wear and tear or safety, drafting of technical specifications for the tenders, providing technical inputs in the evaluation process, and overseeing post-award project and contract management while adhering strictly to SJI Procurement Policy & Procedures.

Ensure timely renewal of facility-related contracts and tenders.
-
Plan, monitor, and manage the Facility budget to ensure that the school’s resources are used optimally to achieve the desired outcomes in the facility operations.
-
Collaborate with Finance Department to ensure accurate processing of the school’s purchases from procurement to payment.
Safety
-
Safeguard the security and safety of the school’s premises and property; ensure that proper emergency preparedness, safety and security SOPs are established such as visitor management, security access points etc.

Support the School Leaders and designated school safety personnel in matters relating to safety and security, whether in the school’s infrastructural assets or security access into the school.
-
Support the school in the conduct of safety exercises such as fire drills, lock downs and emergency evacuation processes.
-
Maintain the school’s CCTV system infrastructure and ensure that the CCTV equipment is well-maintained and in good working condition.

Professional Practice in tendering procedures, contract administration, specifications writing and co-ordination of all building disciplines in civil, mechanical and electrical works and consultancy contracts.

Experience in the leading of building consultants and construction team

Knowledge in building by-laws, contract laws, labour laws, public sector financial procedures.
iv. Qualifications

University Degree in Building, Estate Management, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical & Electrical) with not less than 7 years of relevant experience in the property management and construction environment, experience in the workings of public educational institutions is an advantage.

Diploma holders with at least 7 years of experience may also be considered.

Preferably Fire Safety Manager-qualified.
3) School Counsellor
Roles and responsibilities
System support

Advise school management on school counselling matters.

Network with relevant external professionals and community agencies.

Support department in conducting mental health briefing for staff
System support

Support department in conducting small and large group psycho-educational sessions for students and staff on mental health issues and healthy coping strategies.
Responsive services

Provide individual and group counselling to students.
-
Conference with staff, parents and external professionals and agencies on students being counselled, and conduct home visits where necessary.

Look into the referral of students and their families to community resources or external professionals, where needed.
-
Provide psychological crisis intervention and follow-up to students affected by critical incidents.

Maintain case consultation records and proper documentation

Provide regular updates to school management on the progress of students being seen for counselling.

Requirements

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferably at least one year of full-time work experience in teaching, counselling or volunteering with children and youths.

A university degree with professional counselling qualifications, such as a Postgraduate Diploma or a master’s degree in counselling; or relevant counselling qualification from a recognized University.

Proficient in professional counselling approaches and tools to help clients with diverse issues and conditions, including case conceptualisation and assessment.
Advantageous

Have a psychology degree from a recognized University.

Have experience in handling clinical mental health cases.

Have knowledge in areas that affect the development of the child and assessment tools utilised to evaluate and diagnose disorders.

4) Studio Instructor
Job Description
i. Teaching & Learning

Support the daily operations of the school’s Special Programmes (Eg: Materials Order, Set up of studios for lessons, Tools, Air Con, Cleanliness)

Co-teach with a Teacher Mentor on specific modules like 3D Printing, Micro-Controllers, Coding, Automata and Cardboard Modelling) in Innomakers Programme
-
Conduct training sessions on specific modules like 3D Printing, Micro-Controllers, Coding, Automata and Cardboard Modelling (depending on the instructor's competencies) to SJI teachers in the special programmes (Innomakers Programme, Curriculum +, Signum Fidei, CAS)

Create learning resources/prototypes for teaching and learning (Eg: Cardboard Product Models, Architecture Models, 3D Printing, Laser Cut, Micro-controllers)

Mentor competition groups in building prototypes

Mentor specifically 3D Printing projects by a small group of students/individual students (across various levels) under the permission of their subject teachers

Maintain Open Studio Hours and be present in the studio during these Open studio hours to maintain safety and discipline

ii. Studio Maintenance

Conduct safety lessons for all Year 1 students on the use of sharp objects and equipment at the Makerspace

Assist the teacher mentor in conducting lessons that involve the use of cutting tools, hot glue guns and 3D/laser cut printers
iii. Skills Required
